Teeth Whitening

Have you ever looked at a picture of yourself only to realize that your teeth are not as white as you thought? A yellow smile can take away from your overall appearance and make you feel self-conscious about smiling.

If you are looking for a job, meeting someone new, or have a special event on the horizon, you might be considering professional teeth whitening to improve the aesthetics of your smile.

When used under the supervision of a skilled dentist, like Dr. Kathy Nguyen, professional teeth whitening is considered safe for your teeth and gums.

In-Office Whitening

If you want fast results for a class reunion, vacation, or job interview or if you just don’t want to mess around with trays at home, we offer in-office teeth whitening that can improve the color of your teeth by up to eight shades in about forty-five minutes.

We will apply professional strength whitening gel and treat it with a special light to achieve the best results. We can repeat the process several times in about an hour or so. You can maintain your beautiful smile using custom take-home whitening trays.

Take-Home Whitening

If you have the time and want to whiten your teeth at home, a cost effective way to achieve great results is with custom whitening trays that we make for you in our office. They will fit your teeth snugly and hold the professional strength whitening gel on the surface of your teeth.

Depending on how long and how often you wear your trays, you can achieve excellent results at home, as well. We will discuss how long you should wear them and how often based on your oral health and level of sensitivity.

For the Best Results

To achieve the very best results, you may need a professional dental appointment to remove calculus from your teeth. Whitening teeth with calculus prevents the whitening gel from coming into contact directly with your teeth and you will not get the full benefit of your whitening system.

Always make sure to follow the directions exactly. Using more gel or whitening too frequently can cause irritation and sensitivity. More gel does not mean your teeth will whiten faster!

Common Side Effects

Many people can whiten their teeth with few or no side effects. The most common ones include gum irritation and tooth sensitivity. If you experience sensitivity, it does not mean that you can’t whiten your teeth. We have special products, including fluoride treatments, that can help to reduce your sensitivity so you can still have a white, beautiful smile.
